EVENT DESCRIPTION
And We Walk: Of Inconsolable Memories and Crucified Pleasure
Wearing a dress handmade from the papers of her failed rape case, Boettcher will walk a predetermined route through the city of Glasgow for 12 hours. Part healing ritual, part walk of awareness, part participatory event, Boettcher and Gilbertson aim to use public performance art to continue conversations about women and gender variant people’s safety and encourage further focused discussion of bodily autonomy and sexual pleasure in the aftermath of sexual violence. The walk will end with a screening and audio performance of Boettcher’s short film Emulate the Virgin Mary and include a talk between curator and artist as they discuss pain, pleasure, and life after trauma.* The film screening and discussion will take place on the ground floor of The Pipe Factory after which there will be an open exhibition of the artist's work.

If the capacity for these specific spaces are full or if you have brought your own nourishment, there are plenty of neighbouring establishments for food and drink and/or ample pavement for you to wait.
At the final checkpoint, the artist will pause for 45 minutes, preparing for the CLIMAX of the walk. Participants may choose to end the walk here, enjoy a drink of choice, and are welcome to tune into the Instagram LIVE (@glacuratorial) of the final act.
For those who wish to walk with the artist to The Pipe Factory, Baad Bar is situated across the street where one can purchase food and drink.
Wherever you choose to end your walk or if you wish to only come for the exhibition,
